Newsome earned a degree in business administration with a concentration in
computer science from
Winston-Salem (North Carolina) State University.
Dallas Cowboys Football Club drafted him in 1980 to play the position of
running back. During the nine years he played professional football, Timmy
spent off-seasons developing computer software, and served as a computer
consultant in the fields of banking, retail, and government.
the mid-1980s, Timmy worked with a team that developed a computerized
voter-registration system for the City of
and assisted the State of
in modernizing its elections-management systems.
In 1991, Timmy founded Newtec Business
Solutions, a firm specializing in the development of customized
applications for small businesses. In developing invoice, purchase
order, customer management, inventory control, and sales order modules,
Newtec Business Solutions assisted businesses in managing their business
By the mid-90's, Newtec Business Solutions
began offering additional technology products and services that creates a
one-stop source for computing solutions. From providing structured cabling
for networking and Internet access to purchasing software, Newtec Business
Solutions is uniquely qualified at delivering the right solution.
Timmy Newsome’s community-service activities are extensive. With
education being his primary focus, he is a former vice-chairman of the
board of trustees of Winston-Salem State University; is past chairman of
the school-community council for Townview Magnet High School in Dallas;
and was a member of the school-community council for the Business and
Management Center. He also served on the cultural arts boards of the
Shakespeare Festival of Dallas, The Cultural Arts Council of Plano, and
Junior Players, Inc.
Athletically, he is a member of two football halls of fame,
and these days spends his leisure time playing USTA level tennis.
